The new Nikon compact camera captures a world beyond our own

MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA – The Nikon P950, an easy-to-carry camera that provides super-telephoto performance exceeding users’ expectations is announced by Nikon Middle East FZE today. The easy to use, hassle-free compact digital camera is built for photos and videos with 2000mm focal length from 83x optical zoom, Vibration Reduction (VR) function capability for steady shots and boasts the ability to record videos in 4K UHD. Seasoned hobbyists that dabble in bird/animal-watching, astronomy and aviation or sports photography are sure to love this super-telephoto camera.

With the P950’s 2000mm-equivalent focal length, see more than what the naked eye is capable of with its 83x optical zoom. Photographers who love wide landscape photographs will be able to take advantage of its wide-angle 24mm to super-telephoto 2000mm (35mm-format equivalent) abilities. With the Nikon P950, experience sharper and more beautiful images with high performing Super ED glass employed which provides superior chromatic aberration correction capability.

For super telephoto photography that is likely to cause image bur, the camera is equipped with Dual Detect Optical VR which means that you will be able to shoot with a compensation effect equivalent to a shutter speed 5.5 stops¹ for a steady shot with hand-held telephoto shooting.

Certain types of photographs take a lot of patience and settings to adjust, for instance, the picture of a blood moon, small errors may cause your picture of a magnificently moonlit night to look like a tiny ball of light. Bird-watchers are also familiar with the challenges of trying to catch a fleeting moment when a rare bird is in view, only to have it fly away before the camera is ready to take its picture. Understanding the challenges that many hobbyists may have, the new P950 with 16.0 megapixels² simplifies this by allowing you to simply select the Moon Mode and Bird-Watching mode from the mode dial, which optimizes the camera's settings for capturing these subjects of interest.

Those who are seeking a professional feel in your video storytelling can look forward to integrating the time-lapse movie which can be automatically produced from stills image captured in interval timer shooting to produce an approximately 10 seconds video.

“Bulb” and “Time” shooting are also available to enable photo-taking of the night sky and night landscapes. Take advantage of and retain the best quality version of your stills as the camera supports Nikon's exclusive NRW (RAW)³ format which enables you to work with in post-production.

Ensure that you can get consistency in your series of photographs with the added Auto Exposure-Lock/Auto Focus-Lock (AE-L/AF-L) button. A useful feature which allows you to lock focus and exposure settings to ensure consistency when you are shooting in semi-auto modes. Use this feature to your advantage when shooting panoramic photography.

The P950 delivers improved operability as it features an intuitive operation with side dial/focus-mode selector, and an ultra-high definition, 0.39-inch, approximately 2359k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with eye sensor. A 3.2-inch. vari-angle, approximately 921k-dot TFT LCD monitor with anti-reflection coating is also fitted on the camera, enabling more creative expressions with the flexibility of composition.
